Salt, Baking Soda and Vinegar

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

You can use common items found in your kitchen to treat you spa or hot tub. This saves you time and money.

Use salt with a chlorine generator to continually produce chlorine. Once the chlorine is used, it reverts back to salt so it is available to be converted to chlorine again and again! Use 1.5 lbs per 100 gallons of water.

Use Baking Soda to raise total alkalinity and pH. It is sodium bicarbonate which is the same ingredient found in most alkalinity increasing products. Try 1/4 to 1/3 dry cups in your hot tub.

Use Vinegar to lower the pH of the water safely and inexpensively. Typically 1 – 2 liquid cups for most hot tubs.
